After 21 years of constant exposure to (and involvement with) small business, I know the hard work, dedication, consistency, and passion it takes to keep going. Notice how I said “keep going” and not “be successful”. Sometimes, a small business owner can put their heart and soul into their business and never meet society’s definition of “success”. A small business trying to exist in the same world as Amazon (who can delivery anything you’ve ever dreamt of to your door the next day at the cheapest price possible) is difficult. But, I’ve learned that small business is not about who can do it the fastest and cheapest. Small business is about community - a community made of shoppers that value the craftsmanship, originality, and thought that goes into everything a small business does. Small business is about a community made of small business owners that put craftsmanship, originality, and thought into everything they do. Small business is about the respect, admiration, and support of all community members. Small Town Production markets are a celebration of the small business community.
Thank you for being apart of the Small Town Productions story.
I know it sounds cheesy, but in a way, I feel like starting Small Town Productions was destined for me. My name is Austin and I am the owner/founder of Small Town Productions.
Small business has been apart of my life since I was 8 years old, when my grandparents started a small spirit wear company to sell clothing at my peewee football games. Since then, I’ve been enamored by the American dream of owning a small business. My relationship with small business started with helping my grandparents set up their business at football games, then helping my mom (who started her own mobile boutique) set up her business at local festivals. Eventually my mom and I opened a shop in Downtown Troy (shoutout to The Grove)…and now (in addition to work with The Grove), I organize upscale vendor markets for small businesses that deserve the spotlight.
